Riders’ Chris Jones to QB Brandon Bridge: you know that we want you

Fresh off signing his one-year extension with the Riders, Chris Jones was asked about the quarterback position, specifically Canadian Brandon Bridge.

Saskatchewan had entered into contract negotiations with Bridge, but a workout with the NFL’s New York Giants in December has put that on hold.

Bridge went 92-0f-138 for 1,236 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions while leading the Riders to a pair of wins, both on the road. He sparked the Riders offence in the East Final, completing 11-of-21 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown in the team’s defeat. That TD toss was the first by a Canadian in a post-season game since Russ Jackson in the 1969 Grey Cup.

“I think he likes it here, I think he knows that our staff really likes him and wants to try to develop him as a quarterback. I do think that he brings a lot of really big intangibles to the position. Certainly, I feel like that there is growth that has to go on there in the off-season. He’s a dynamic young player,” Jones said.

The 25-year-old’s pact with Saskatchewan expires in February.
