Good posts RFD and Darren.
As another poster stated recently, Jeff Richards didn’t play a lot in two years in Ottawa, yet he made the NFL, where better DBs Forrest Hightower and Mitchell White didn’t, so you never know. Maybe Rodgers makes it too.
I hope the Eskimos give Nate Behat more of an opportunity next season and sign Tevaun Smith too.
They usually seem to mismanage their Canadian receiving talent and not give them enough throws (Shamawd Chambers & Nate Coehoorn).

Mitchell is signed for another year already & I'm thinking Hazelton will get signed & Bowman asked to take a cut. Otherwise should one of Walker or Zylstra come back later, bet on one signed to a multi-year deal & Bowman get traded. He was rumoured traded to the Als just before the trade deadline this year. Bowman's a good guy & would hate to see him go but he's got a hefty deal & his age is against him. I see Bowman, Hazelton, Williams, Mitchell to start the year with Walker/Zylstra to take Bowman's spot when one returns. Behar should be ready to take over the National spot after a year learning the offence but despite his age, wouldn't be surprised to see Watson back. He still brings that physicality & Esks may get 1 more year out of him.

If Carter was in Edmonton, he would have been no better than 3rd on the depth chart. You hsve to catch the ball consistently, which Carter doesn't do, or it doesn't get thrown to you. Bowman caught 71% of his targets ladt year, Carter was 64%, a good year for him, mrdiocre for a receiver. This year Bowman was around 60%, same as Duron - not good. In Edmonton Bowman became the 4th option behind Zylstra, Walker & Hazelton. Carter would have done no better when you have guys like those 3 making plays. And I don't see Maas sitting Carter down for a daily chat like Jones says he does. Carter is still the diva who needs constant attention. Glad you have him. So far he's not in hot demand down South. Judging by him signing in Regina last year for half what he got from the Als in 2016, he wan't exactly on a lot of wish lists in the CFL either. You better hope Jones wants to play baby sitter for another year.

Zylstra and Walker are as good as gone, at least for a time, as both will be in an NFL camp somewhere next summer and the Eskies will have to do without them until beyond Labour Day. However, it is not as easy to make a practice roster as some think, as Derel Walker found out in Cincy last year. The right opportunity has to be presented and even then things have to fall into place as Grymes found out in Philly.

Doubt Hazelton signs with the Eskies before free agency opens and the same with Stafford who sat on the PR most of last season. Only one of Mitchell, Hazelton and Stafford will be coming back.

New UDFA's in the NFL arrive every year and CFL'ers that want to take a shot face tough competition. I expect both Zylstra and Walker will be back in the Eskies fold for the final six games in 2018, this time Walker for good. In the interim it would be good to see Duke Williams progress to the next level and the Esks to give a real shot to Bryant Mitchell. Then at the end of the season both Mitchell and Williams can take their shot in the NFL if the so desire while Walker locks in for another two years.

Adarius Bowman will be back and looked decent in the last 3 regular season games and the Winnipeg playoff game. His role will continue to be adjusted as time marches on. Williams and Bowman will continue to be the 1-2 punch on the boundary side, with Behar and Mitchell on the field sie if Watson doesn't re-sign. Will Nate Behar get a bigger role in year two and what about Natey Adjei could he play the speedster roving slotback role or will that be Behar? Tevaun Smith is without a home and the Eskies have his CFL rights, could he too be signed to play the rover slot-back?

Best guess right now Williams - Adjei / Smith - Bowman - Behar - Mitchell to start the season for the Eskies. Jamill Smith is the # 7 receiver and KR. If Walker and/or Zylstra return Tevaun Smith will be sat just like the Eskies did with Williams last season and Zylstra the season before.

Kind of funny how the story does not mention Carter, only 5 players of over 200 free agents and Carter haters mention him in every other comment. Carter never had any of the Allstar QB's throwing his way like the MOP. If he was in Edmonton he leads the league without a doubt. I hope he resigns and we get a QB who can throw accurately. I'd love to see all you cry and make more excuses. Carter is a good guy. Very charismatic. If you met him off the field I bet you haters would change your tune. But I know many of you, once you hate, that's all you see, care and live for. Hence the consistant Carter comments. Even when the writer doesn't mention him.

Carter was over 600 yards behind the top receiver in the league & he only played 16 games. He was 10th & available for NFL tryouts from the time he was released before season end in 2016 to February when he signed with the Riders. While guys like Demski are worth a tryout, which costs the NFL club virtually nothing, Carter sits around hoping for a call. Carter said to Rod Pederson this week he's waiting for a club to call him. If you believe Carter would rather play in the CFL, Greg, than in the NFL then give your head a shake to clear the green fog. Wait's bang on with his comments. Duron in his last 2 full seasons sees more balls per game when he's on offence than almost any other receiver in the league but in those 2 full years only averages about 60% of them caught. Zylstra was over 75%.

Greg ...LOL at Wait as he sure hasn't much football knowledge but sure has a dumb ass view of one of the top players in the CFL in Duron Carter.

Carter's sort of made it clear that he isn't NFL bound as he said he's had those chains on before.
