Grey Cup quickly turns into a Snow Bowl

The 105th Grey Cup kicked off in a winter wonderland.

The Calgary Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts took to TD Place Stadium for Sunday night’s CFL finale on a snow-covered field.

Just a few hours before the Argos and Stampeders kicked off in the 105th Grey Cup it looked like a clear late November day.

The teams are on the field. Warmups have started.

But then the snow dumped down.

Soon the field was blanketed in snow and it continues to fall at TD Place in Ottawa.

By the time the teams took the field, officials were scrambling to clear the turf.

Several dozen stadium employees raced with shovels to uncover the lines, while snow plows attempted to clear the end zones.

The temperature at kickoff was minus 3 Celsius. The snow is expected to fall most of the evening.

A pre-game flyover featuring two of the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CF-18 Hornets was cancelled due to the snow.

The last Grey Cup which featured a bunch of white stuff was in 1996 when Hamilton hosted the game and Toronto prevailed.
