Riders 2017 Outstanding Lineman returns to practice after missing East semi

Canadian offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte is back on the practice field for the Riders as the team prepares for the East Final in Toronto on Sunday.

LaBatte started all 18 regular season games for Saskatchewan at left guard and centre, but he was carted off the field in Week 20. He was seen on crutches after that game, but the lower-body injury has healed enough to allow him to practice. 2016 CFL Most Outstanding Lineman Derek Dennis took his spot in the playoff win against Ottawa.

The presence of LaBatte could allow the Riders to start three Canadians on the interior of the offensive line, possibly joining Dan Clark at centre and Peter Dyakowski at right guard, as the team has done for parts of the season.
