CFL changes all-star team positions

Published on

The Canadian Football League has changed the specification of positions on its all-star teams.

Five receivers and one running back on is the new alignment, changed from four pass catchers and two rushers. That lines up with the way teams are employing offences around the league.

And on the defensive side of the football, there are two linebackers and a cover linebacker position meant for the strong-side linebacker, often referred to as the toughest spot to play on defence. It used to be three linebackers across the board, which led to the exclusion of versatile athletes who might not rack up a number of tackles required to stack up with their middle or weakside ‘backers.
