Riders sign former Bombers receiver T.J. Thorpe

Saskatchewan has inked former Winnipeg receiver, T.J. Thorpe.

The rookie CFLer played in six games with the Bombers making 33 catches for 302 yards before asking for his release from Winnipeg in late September.

“He was on the practice roster and he chose to leave,” Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea told the Winnipeg Sun. “When you are on the practice roster you don’t have a contract. I thought he had a role on this team, but it’s alright.”

When asked if he was disappointed about Thorpe’s decision, O’Shea simply said: “Yes.” Asked if he thought Thorpe was good enough to make an impact in the league, he said: “Yup, he was good.”

Clearly, Saskatchewan feels the same way as O’Shea.
