Riders’ Chris Jones: Duron Carter could be as good as any DB in the league

Duron Carter graded out higher in his debut as a defensive back than any game he’s played receiver in 2017.

The 26-year-old made two tackles and picked off Bo Levi Mitchell returning it 37 yards for a touchdown.

“He did some good things. He could line-up at a lot of positions and do some good things. He certainly wasn’t perfect, I mean they got behind him at least twice possibly three times,” Riders head coach and general manager Chris Jones said on Monday.

“Of course, he’s hard to overthrow, I mean he’s a lot like some of the guys we’ve had in the past, Pat Watkins in particular where he can be beat but if it’s not a perfect throw it’s tough to throw over the top of him.”

Jones believes that Carter has the potential to be a top cover man in the CFL.

“If he fully devoted time at DB he could be as good as any DB in the league.”
