And regarding your rude comments of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, largely, we have a speckled history as you suggest. Those years that you brought up, I personally was not a fan of that time period, so it largely doesn’t bother me and brings only a distant gaze. But I do remember the tough years as a fan in the early-90’s where the club nearly folded. But, how times have changed. The Roughriders now have one of the largest fan bases in Canada due to a youth movement of Rider Pride that emanated in Saskatchewan and spreads beyond the borders. In fact, on game day in Edmonton, those Roughrider fans could be heard cheering our team on to victory as evidenced most recently in your team’s ballpark. And the success of the Roughriders in the past 10 years with two Grey Cup victories, along with two Grey Cup losses to the Alouettes, has certainly helped bring the organization up on its feet. So, as you previously suggested, in most Rider fans eyes, the past is a very distant past, and the recent success by the organization is vivid among all fans of the green and white. And I’m certain the windfalls of success will continue on for many years to come.

Mr. Boneyard, I have a bone to pick with you. Obviously, your knowledge of the Eskimos (Evil Empire) dynasty years from 1978-82 brings some perspective into the CFL days of that time period. I would assume you likely were a fan of the green and gold back in the day since your memory of those players is absolutely correct. And you are correct to state that those players — Moon, Kelly, Germany, Kepley, Fennell, etc. — were Eskimo pickups from colleges, and developed by the Eskimos’ organization. In fact, a lot of the players that the Edmonton Eskimos program featured in those years were developed and ‘kept’ by the Eskimos because many of the teams could ‘not’ compete with the dollars the Eskimos had and offered to those players in that day, due to ‘lack’ of a salary cap. Yes, I remember those days very well as yourself. The Eskimos did fill holes with players from other teams, for instance, Tommy Scott formerly of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Bill Manchuk of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Neil Lumsden formerly of the Hamilton Tiger Cats, Angelo Santucci of the Hamilton Tiger Cats, plus a few others. Credit to the Eskimos with their scouting services back in the day that were second-to-none because they could afford to spend frivolously with the lucrative dollars provided for their success from a much larger fan base to fill the ‘new’ Commonwealth Stadium of the late-’70’s. But the second most-important segment of that organization was retaining those players the Edmonton Eskimos scouts brought in. And how many of those stars that you listed, plus many others, ever depart for greener pastures? Not one single player because there was no salary cap. As they say, the rich just kept getting richer. Pretty easy to see how a dynasty was formed when there was no salary cap, eh? Similar to the New York Yankees for their rich habits, the Evil Empire was formed to the chagrin of many CFL fans, during that time period. Credit to the organization, scouting habits of your team, etc. for having a successful model. But the Evil Empire moniker of the Edmonton Eskimos will always stick with the organization, primarily, from their hay-days of the 1970’s and 1980’s.

I dont expect stamp fans to know the rules of the cfl, so heres a little lesson pants. Marc retired, but his contract is still valid. He cant un-retire and play for another team , or ask for more money. He will make whatever his original contract says he will make.
