The 27-year-old signed with the Eagles this past off-season, getting $17,500 guaranteed, but he was waived by Philadelphia in August.

Mitchell was brought to the CFL by Argos general manager Jim Popp when the pair were in Montreal. He played collegiately at Popp’s alma mater Michigan State.

A starting calibre cover man, Mitchell joins Alden Darby, Qudarius Ford, Brandon Harris, Cassius Vaughn on the roster and the Argos hope to have Akwasi Owusu-Ansah back off the one-game injured list soon. Johnny Sears Jr. and Josh Mitchell are on the six-game injured list while Khalid Wooten resides on the practice roster.
