The 25-year-old played in two games during his rookie season in the NFL making one tackle. Abdesmad was the only Canadian invited o the 2016 NFL combine. He went undrafted but signed with Tennesee as a priority free agent immediately after the draft.
Ottawa selected the Montreal, Quebec native in the third round, 25th overall in the CFL draft.
Following a season-ending knee injury in 2014 at Boston College, Abdesmad stayed healthy in 2015 for the Eagles, playing in 11 games, notching 49 tackles, 15 for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Abdesmad will likely see if he catches on with another NFL team before heading north to the Redblacks.
