Rookie Canadian defensive lineman Kwaku Boateng has made his impact in Edmonton already.
There have been some #EarthKwaku moments already for Boateng with the Eskimos, two quarterback sacks – many other pressures – and one forced fumble plus eight defensive tackles.
Boateng fell all the way to the fifth round of the 2016 CFL draft, but he’s showing that was a steal for Edmonton. The 22-year-old was getting rotational reps at the defensive end spot on an otherwise all-American front and earned his first career start in Week 9 against Winnipeg.

The Eskimo Empire podcast came up with a t-shirt based off the #EarthKwaku nickname.
Boateng acquired it from public address announcer Chris Povey who coined it while he was playing for Wilfrid Laurier University and set a school record with 20.5 sacks during his time as a Golden Hawk.
