Hebert launched himself at Fajardo just as he was about to step out of bounds. Hebert led with the crown of his helmet and made contact with Fajardo’s head. He was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play.

It’s hardly the first questionable play from Hebert, who has a reputation as one of the dirtiest players in the CFL. His most notorious is a 2014 hit on running back Jon Cornish, which left the former Calgary Stampeder with a concussion. Hebert was ejected from the game and fined the maximum allowable by the CFL.

Hebert has rejected accusations that he’s a dirty player in the past.

“I don’t like that,” Hebert said recently. “I’m aggressive, I’m violent, I tear stuff up, but I don’t think it’s dirty. It’s usually within the rules most of the time. Ninety-nine per cent of the time, 98, 96 per cent of the time, I’m pretty sure. I do what I can to be a difference-maker on the field.”
