Eagles waive former Alouettes and Redblacks DB

Former Montreal and Ottawa defensive back Mitchell White has been waived by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 27-year-old played two seasons with the Alouettes and one as a Redblack, winning a Grey Cup championship in 2016. White suited up in 42 games, recorded 97 tackles and four interceptions.

That led to White signing a two-year deal – including $17,500 guaranteed – with Philly in January, a team where he felt there was a legit opportunity to make the 53-man roster.

“I know I’m not going to walk in and be the day one starter. But I looked at the roster and the depth chart and guys who are expected to be free agents, and I felt it would be a good opportunity to go to Philadelphia and be able to play defensive back and also on special teams,” White said.

After the Eagles acquired defensive back Ronald Darby, 2015 second round pick, from Buffalo via trade on August 11, the position became even more crowded in Philadelphia, which led to White being waived.
