The 31-year-old Washington has made 74 starts in seven CFL seasons with Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton, winning a Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 2015. He started last Friday’s game against Hamilton at left tackle but was released by Edmonton this afternoon.
A CFL source confirmed the deal was likely to be finalized shortly.
Washington has worked hard to overcome the stigma of being a registered sex offender in the state of Texas and sources say he is well-regarded by former teammates, coaches and fans.
Friendly, kind, welcoming, taking time to say hello to us fans. Thank you, Tony!

The Ticats have had their struggles along the offensive line, particularly at tackle, having allowed a league-high 57 quarterback pressures along with 15 sacks (fifth in the CFL.)
