Canadian DL Ricky Foley returns to the Left coast

Veteran Canuck defensive lineman Ricky Foley has landed back in the place where his career began, agreeing to terms with the B.C. Lions.

Foley was originally drafted in the first round, fourth overall by the Lions in 2006. He spent his first four CFL seasons with the B.C., winning a Grey Cup in 2006 then in 2009 he made 47 defensive tackles, a career-high 12 sacks to claim the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian Award.

The Courtice, ON native was released by the Toronto Argos on March 31. He had been in talks with multiple franchises since.

Overall, Foley has played for three different CFL teams – Lions, Argos and Riders – during 11 CFL seasons while winning a Grey Cup with each franchise. Eight of those years the York University product played in every single game possible for his team. He’s made 346 career tackles, 60 sacks, 56 special teams tackles, 10 forced fumbles, one interception and scored one touchdown in 182 regular season games.
