In reply to Ari Katz. While I agree that everyone deserves a second chance, Johnny Football has to decide that he will pursue that and genuinely work at it. I still get the feeling that Manziel feels he has to make no effort for a second chance and that everyone should be kissing his booty.

In reply to mark. I agree with you that I don't care about the nationality of NHLers in the lower 48. If my team is composed mostly of Canadians who bring home the Stanley Cup, I will pay to watch them and wear their replica jerseys.

In reply to Mark. Sorry to disagree with you, my friend, but NCAA FBS is more big business than it is an educational experience. The former Texas A&M coach was probably more focused on winning the SEC title and keeping the A&M alums happy than he was in devoting extra time to teaching his star about how to deal with life. Although I feel that the college players in FBS are still just young kids who are learning to deal with the adult world and should be cut some slack, there are many others out there who expect these kids to fulfill their championship fantasies to make up for their own dull lives.

Oskee Wee Wee Everyone deserves a second chance. He will be a star in the CFL and he may just decide to stay here. Hope that he has or is talking to Flutie as Flutie will influence him to come and likely to stay put here. Run and Shoot offence is reappearing right now in Hamilton and we could use him. Also what is lost here is the Can-con rules and protectionism is hurting the CFL. Quotas should be dropped and the best available players should play in Canada. What is different is the fans are North of the border but they will come out in larger numbers if they product is better. Look at the NHL. Most teams are based in the US yet 50% of players are Canadian, 25% US and 25% all other. Yet fans don’t care in Nashville that no Univ. of Tennessee products are on the ice. They just want to see good hockey. CFL will be backward as long as backward protectionism is in place. Let the best players play and fans will respond.

What is lost here is University coaches are also professors and Klingenhoffer failed in His job to prepare Manziel for life after leaving school. The Coach should gave tested Manziel every Friday on the next opponents defense and benched him if he failed the test.

Interestingly, most of the guys mentioned by John (with the exception of Flutie and Burris) came from NCAA I-AA (FCS) schools or, in Trevor Harris’s came, Division II. By contrast, a former Heisman Trophy winner from Ohio State (Troy Smith) did none too well (and there are many other examples). A lot of it depends not just on sheer talent but desire, professionalism and work ethic (Ray, Reilly, Mitchell, Harris come to mind). Is Manziel willing to make that investment for probably not much more than $100K Cdn plus allowances/bonuses for a couple of years? Tough call, though he hasn’t shown any propensity to do so. I personally don’t think it’s worth it for the Ticats for only a year or two. Much better to fix whatever’s ailing Collaros (such as giving him time to make his reads and throw the ball).

I think the riders and Ticats should go after Lulay.
The price is steep but next year would be the payoff. Throw Wpg in the mix. Still not sold on Nichols.
