According to a report from Le Journal De Quebec, former Laval quarterback Alex Skinner is suing the university.
While a student-athlete with the Rouge et Or, Skinner was charged with assault stemming from a fight outside a bar on June 28, 2013. The Ottawa native was found innocent last July after a Quebec City judge ruled that Skinner reacted solely to defend himself. Skinner maintained his innocence all along.
In November 2013, Skinner won a Vanier Cup with Laval, but he was suspended for the first three games of the 2014 season and eventually left the football program and institution altogether.
Skinner is suing for $250,000 in damages. The allegations have not been proven in court.
