There were plenty of standout performances from Canadians in Week 5 which made selecting the Top 3 Canucks of the Week difficult.

1. Jerome Messam, running back, Calgary Stampeders

The bulldozing back toted the ball a career-high 28 times for 135 yards and one touchdown in a strong bounce back effort personally and for the Stamps. Once Messam got into a rhythm it was like he was running downhill.

2. Anthony Coombs, running back and receiver, Toronto Argonauts

Coombs made a 26-yard chunk play to open the game on offence for the Argos and that led to a field goal. In the fourth quarter, he caused Taylor Reed to slip and got himself wide open for a touchdown. Coombs finished with eight receptions for 73 yards.

3. Ted Laurent, defensive tackle, Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Laurent was a force on the inside, penetrating through the middle on a consistent basis and taking down Mike Reilly three times, plus two tackles and recovered a fumble.
