Lions expected to sign QB Jake Heaps

B.C. has touched base with quarterback Jake Heaps, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji and he expects the 26-year-old to be added to the Lions practice roster next week.

For CFL purposes, Heaps was originally on the Eskimos negotiation list, but the Riders added him in the CFL’s double secret neg draft last December. The 26-year-old signed with Saskatchewan in advance of attending mini-camp with the Roughriders in Florida in late April.

Then Seattle inked Heaps to a deal only to release him just over a month later. He’s been a free agent ever since.

Lions pivot Jonathon Jennings took a ferocious hit and exited the game against Hamilton.

B.C.’s starter underwent an MRI on Monday and it revealed no structural damage, but Jennings status is week-to-week.
