3Down Top 3 Canucks of the Week

Before the 2016 season, the CFL changed its players-of-week format to eliminate specific offensive, defensive and Canadian players, choosing instead to name three players regardless of position or nationality.

We here at 3DownNation think that was a mistake.

To rectify it, we’ll be naming our Top 3 Canucks of the Week throughout the 2017 season, highlighting the play of the top Canadian players.

1. Alex Singleton, linebacker, Calgary Stampeders

The Stampeders defence had a bounce back game after giving up 70 points in the first two weeks and allowed just 10 to a Bomber offence coming off a 43-point game in Saskatchewan. Singleton led Calgary with nine tackles.

2. Jeff Finley, defensive lineman, Toronto Argonauts

After starting defensive tackle Ken Bishop went down with an injury, Finley stepped in and recorded two tackles and two sacks, the first two quarterback takedowns of his career. That helped Toronto stave off a comeback attempt from Ottawa and earn a road win.

3. Peter Dyakowski, offensive lineman, Saskatchewan Roughriders

Facing his former team in the Ticats Dyakowski helped the Riders amass 474 yards and 37 points. He’s helped stabilize Saskatchewan’s group up front after coming over in a trade.
