It’s been around a lot longer than Austin … which may be why Cat fans are upset as they thought Austin would solve the slow starts.

You have to go back Greg Marshall in 2004 to find the last win in the first game of the season. He’s also the last to start with three wins.

It didn’t look like Banks did anything other than push Roosevelt out of the way. I didn’t see him contact the official.

As for Hill if you watch the entire sequence, the official was pushing him back and he grabbed the official. Didn’t see any intent to harm. Kind of lame but at any rate you can’t touch an official like that.

The hit on Roosevelt was helmet to helmet after seeing it from different angles.

In reply to Garney. It was unclear from replay whether the contact was by the shoulder or by a helmet, but in any case the hit was directly to the head. And the league has to stop that sort of thing.

Actually, this has become the “normal” type of start for a Ti-Cat season. I know they appear to stink, but like the Old Spice guy says… “don’t smell yourself short!”

I thought the actions of both Banks and Hill were foolish and avoidable. I suspect that both will have a chance to clean up their act or face being benched – or released. Speedy especially had no business going onto the field regardless of his intent. It wouldn’t surprise me if Hill is given a one game suspension for his contact on the official – certainly a fine will be coming down from the league. That being said, although things do indeed look bleak the team has played only 2 games and has not had enough time to develop much chemistry especially with a number of lineup changes. Most other teams have just finished their third game – including last night’s opponent. The absence of some key experienced starters in the secondary doesn’t help as it’s hard for the lone experienced player to guide four others who have little game experience yet. I agree Gord – it’s much too early to throw in the towel.
