Part of the stigma you mention is the small number of teams, unfortunately. But getting into double digits would mitigate some of that. I’ve felt 12 teams would be ideal, but difficult to find the right centres if just in Canada. And most American cities close to Canada are usually close to an NFL team, too (Spokane may be interesting).

I think 10 is a stretch Jim. Anymore is out of the question in terms of having a population to sustain it. Consider too the amount of Canadian talent is already taxed. Adding more teams would further this

10 to 12 teams? I think 10 might be a stretch unless talks of expansion to the northern U.S. opens up again. Not sure the most talked about cities Quebec City & Halifax would be able to support CFL towns. They are mostly university football towns, if they are winners. Ontario is already over-saturated. I can’t imagine the CFL strongholds Alberta, Saskatchewan & Winnipeg could be able to pump out another one or two more cities for CFL franchises.
I prefer the 9 team league. I’m able to watch all 4 games a week. Keep engrossed with all 9 teams instead of just my favorite. The new commissioner should just focus on strengthening our current markets from going belly up & more exposure to other markets mostly in the U.S. who are missing football during the non-NFL months. Try to change the stigma that the CFL is a Mickey Mouse league.

Rogers probably won’t get on board as long as they have a fantasy about landing an NFL team for Toronto. It will never happen but Rogers’ execs have been deluded on this subject for years. Maybe Joe Natale is more realistic which would be good for the league.

How do you know whether the league office needs smaller more efficient staff? As for CFL teams that make money, it’s most of them although the profit is relatively small.

My concern is more about whether he has the ability to move the CFL in the direction it needs to go to connect/reconnect with fans. That is mission critical for the future of the league. I know nothing about him so he may be an outstanding choice all around (and I hope he is).
