I agree. 3DN is filling a gap left by the league when they stopped reserving a spot for Canadians in POW selections a couple of years back.

Too often Canadians get overlooked. How about rookie Mulamba with the Eskimos. Saw him make 3 or 4 tackles on coverage teams. And I would have given nod to back up RB in Ottawa if not for sure he fumble.

I respectfully disagree. The Canadian ratio is just one of the things that makes our game unique (and challenging!). Annually, the CFL presents an award for The Most Outstanding Canadian Player and recognition for the Most Valuable Canadian in the Grey Cup game itself. I’m ok with this and any recognition is good publicity. Recognizing that these 3 players had great games doesn’t necessarily mean that other players didn’t have good or great games also.

I know it’s the CFL and Canadian players who can perform at the same level with those from the football factory to the south are critical to our game and their team’s success,
But let’s leave the flags home on a week-to-week basis. After all the very idea of picking stars if the week is selective as there were a # of players in each gam that got the fans up out of their seats to cheer and smile.

Why not acknowledge performance irrespective of ‘National’ designation? That a certain number of roster spots should be for Canadians is fine by me; that we give special mention to players’ merits because they are Canadian, not so much. I wonder whether players themselves would want this sort of recognition which is only partly predication on performance as such.
