Montreal quarterback Darian Durant’s exuberant celebration after his new team held on to beat his old one has earned him the wrath of Riderville (or some of it, anyway.)
The Alouettes defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 17-16 on Thursday night after Rider kicker Tyler Crapigna missed a 45-yard field goal on the final play. Durant threw for 233 yards on 20 for 31 passing with no interceptions and two touchdown passes.
What a friggin goof. Football is a team game, it’s not about Durant.

The 34-year-old spent the first 11 years of his career playing for Saskatchewan, leading the Riders to a 2013 Grey Cup championship on home turf in Regina and gave a heartfelt speech to fans after his departure but that’s clearly been quickly forgotten by some green and white faithful.
Durant’s reaction displayed the importance of the game to him – and the same could be said for Rider supporters too.
