Riders put Chad Owens on injured list

Saskatchewan has placed receiver and returner Chad Owens on the six-game injured list, per sources.

The 35-year-old is dealing with lingering effects from a broken foot suffered last season while playing for the Ticats. Owens has reportedly not practised with the Riders since the team’s mock game on June 5.

He caught 58 passes for 808 yards and five touchdowns with Hamilton in 2016. Owens has played eight seasons in the CFL, six of those with the Argos. His career numbers are Hall-of-Fame worthy, including a 2012 season that saw him set a league record for all-purpose yards and earn the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award.
