Duane Forde out of the running for CFL commish job (& the league never called)

Well respected TSN analyst Duane Forde never submitted an application for the CFL commissioner job.

“I made the decision not to apply for a couple reasons, the main one being it’s not a fit for my family right now,” Forde says.

Also of note: at no point during the process did anyone from the league reach out to Forde about gauging his interest. The 48-year-old did express interest in the commissioner position back in May, but that’s as far as it went.

A bruising fullback, Forde, a Western University alum, played 12 seasons in the CFL for the Stampeders, Argos, Bombers and Ticats. He won two Grey Cup championships with Calgary in 1992 and 1998.

Forde joined TSN in 2008, after stints at Sportsnet (2003-2005) and TheScore (2006-2007), where he continues to be a game analyst and the network’s lead CFL draft guru.

Back in 2012, Forde was in the mix to be the assistant general manager for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, which included four face-to-face meetings, but that job eventually went to Kyle Walters, the current Bombers general manager.
