Last year, Colquhoun signed an NFL priority undrafted free agent contract with the Cowboys. After the NFL draft, Colquhoun was selected by the Eskimos in the second round, 17th overall during the 2016 CFL draft. He was subsequently released by Dallas at the end of training camp and the cover man was a free agent for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Colquhoun was ranked as the top defensive back in that Canuck class. Some scouts viewed the six-foot-one, 189-pound defensive back as a player who could step in a start immediately in the CFL.

The Windsor, Ontario native and W. F. Herman Secondary School graduate started 11 games for Michigan State in 2015, his senior season. He was a vital part of the Spartans Big Ten Championship team, recording a career-high 45 tackles, 12 passes defended, 10 pass break-ups, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Colquhoun put up some strong numbers at Michigan State’s Pro Day.
