Talks between Riders, top draft pick progressing but gap remains

Negotiations between the Riders and No. 2 overall 2017 CFL draft pick, linebacker Cameron Judge have progressed, but a gap remains until a deal can be completed, per sources.

The sides were far apart back on Victoria Day and while there is still ground that needs to be closed in order for a deal to be finalized, it appears some headway has been made. The situation has a distinctly different feel from last year’s contentious negotiation between the Riders and 2016 No. 1 overall selection, offensive lineman Josiah St. John, when the team and the player were at a virtual stalemate.

Contract talks can be fickle and the dynamic could change with one phone call, text or email, so the Riders would be wise to close the deal while the discussions are headed in a positive direction.
