Riders draft pick Auclair makes sweet one-handed grab at Bucs mini-camp

Former Laval tight end Antony Auclair made a sweet one-handed grab at Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie mini-camp.

The six-foot-five, 254-pounder was in Tampa last weekend showcasing his skills with other first-year players after signing with the club in April. He was selected in the fourth round, 30th overall, by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in last Sunday’s CFL Draft.

Auclair appears to have caught the eye of Bucs coach Dirk Koetter, who told the Tampa Bay Times that they like his size.

“I’m very surprised he wasn’t drafted. We had him with a draftable grade and we feel very fortunate to get him. You look at him and (first-round pick) O.J. (Howard) standing right next to each other, two really good-looking guys.”

Auclair had 17 catches for 229 yards and two touchdowns in eight regular season games for the Rouge et Or last year. He recorded a team-high 70 receiving yards and one touchdown in Laval’s 2016 Vanier Cup championship victory.

Then he garnered an invite to the East-West Shrine Game. After showing well in Florida, 17 NFL teams traveled to Quebec City to see Auclair perform at his pro day. That made 10 NFL teams bring him in for a visit.
