Alouettes sign DB Jovon Johnson

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive back Jovon Johnson to a one-year contract.

Johnson inked a deal with the Als and then-general manager Jim Popp in 2016 and returns to the club under new GM Kavis Reed. The 33-year-old played in all 18 games for Montreal in 2016 making 59 tackles, six sacks, three interceptions and one forced fumble.

Over his 10-year CFL career, Johnson has earned many accolades, winning a Grey Cup with Winnipeg in 2007, named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player award in 2011 and been named an all-star on five occasions.

Johnson has played 160 games recording 504 tackles, eight sacks, 32 interceptions, forced eight fumbles and scored seven defensive touchdowns.
