The 28-year-old recorded 108 tackles – third most in the CFL – five sacks and one interception in 2016 for the BC Lions while earning league all-star honours for the fourth time in his six-year CFL career.
Based on a clause in his contract, the five-foot-10, 230-pound tackler was allowed a window until January 27, 2017 to explore NFL chances. If Bighill did not sign with an NFL team within that time period he would’ve remained under contract with the Leos through the 2018 season.
