Coveted CFL draft-eligible athletes heading to College Gridiron Showcase

University of Maine linebacker Christophe Mulumba and McGill University offensive lineman Qadr Spooner have accepted invites to attend the College Gridiron Showcase, the event will be held in Bedford, TX from January 7-11.

Mulumba recorded 97 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two pass break-ups in 10 games during his senior year with the Black Bears. The Montreal native racked up 347 career tackles while playing four seasons at Maine. The six-foot-one, 245-pound tackler was selected to the New England Football Writers’ All-New England team and garnered his third All-CAA (Colonial Athletic Conference) first-team selection after the 2016 campaign.

After the College Gridiron Showcase, Mulumba will head directly to the Tropical Bowl. He’s a top 10 rated prospect for the CFL draft.

Meanwhile, Spooner was a USports Quebec (RSEQ) conference first-team all-star at tackle for the Redmen in 2016. The six-foot-four, 314-pounder was the second-highest rated Canadian university offensive lineman on the CFL’s December scouting bureau rankings.
