Laval Rouge et Or tight end Antony Auclair rose eight spots to No. 2 in the latest CFL Scouting Bureau rankings of the top 20 eligible prospects for the 2017 CFL Draft.
Auclair, from Notre-Dame-des-Pins, Que., had six catches and a touchdown in Laval’s Vanier Cup victory over the Calgary Dinos last month. He has also been invited to the prestigious East-West Shrine Game, the oldest American college football all-star showcase that has served as an NFL launching point for the likes of Canadian defensive lineman David Onyemata and o-lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif in recent years.
Mississippi State offensive lineman Justin Senior remained in the No. 1 position while UCLA defensive lineman Eli Ankou rose two spots to No. 3.
Senior, from Montreal, has started all 12 games for the Bulldogs so far this season at right tackle. Ankou, from Ottawa, has made eight starts over 10 appearances for the Bruins.
Dinos receiver Rashaun Simonise of Vancouver rose three spots to No. 4 and Manitoba Bisons offensive lineman Geoff Gray jumped six spots to No. 5.
The next rankings list will be unveiled in April. The CFL’s Scouting Bureau is comprised of scouts, player personnel directors and general managers from around the league.
The CFL Draft will be held in early May.
