I'd like to hear from those who support bringing an NFL team to Toronto answer the question of where would the team play? The Rogers Centre is too small (max football capacity 56,000) to have a full-time team play 8 regular season games in. Also, who will pay for this new stadium? Don't count on the federal or provincial governments there as both are running up huge deficits right now. Until the Rogers or Tannenbaum families put up the dough for a new stadium, please stop talking about the NFL coming to TO because it won't happen.

Please as a refugee from the XTreme Football League (WWF) for short he brought Scott Milanovich with him a former NFL short timer QB and part of the Alouette offensive machine under Trestman. Now please outline from A to Z the Barker resume and who hired him in Calgary. That is Jim Barker an unknowledgable CFL football man who seems more guess and by golly than smart. Resume please!

Until...and only until this team is competitive...NO stadium will be the cure for their self inflicted problems...

Get a GM that can make sensible deals and can acquire talent ...Barker is NOT that...

If the NFL wants to move in to Toronto there is nothing to stop them. If the area was a football hotbed it would be done. If so, steps would already be in place for T.O. to have their team. The NFL is a successful mega corporation, they will do what is in the best interests of their business. I seriously doubt your conspiracy theory that everything that is happening to the Argos is intentional in order to make it easier for an NFL team to move in. All of the Argos troubles are of their own creation in a unique market that is different from the rest of Canada. If the franchise doesn't or can't work, fold or move them. Financial subsidies? Who would fund that? Taxpayers? The rest of the CFL? The Argos' ownership has enough money, this would have been a prerequisite for ownership in a CFL team, especially one that bleeds money like this franchise. The Argos are on their own with this one but they do need a little support. In closing, if you truly are a football fan in the 416 area code start supporting any kind of football (university, high school, semi-pro, etc) instead of constantly complaining. You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. If the attitude doesn't change there will be no football of any kind, CFL, NFL, Arena League.

To hitch the Argos to the NFL would be as successful as the 2016 season as well as past NFL exs which should be viewed as just good foreign sport events. The total attack on the CFL because of the inability to work hard and smart does leave the door open for a laggard season we just witnessed. First order of business fire the Argo ops from top to bottom. Discuss more later about the footsy deal with the former owner. Float a player ration nationals and internationals also compensation from the NFL for each signed National our lifeblood! The NFL is feasting on our players some of whom went to their camps despite willingness to remain in the CFL like led by the nose by agents. Compensation when signed and compensation for making the team game roster. So we fans must know why so many low level coaches have caught on here despite terrible early results elsewhere. Whats the league office thinking. So get to the Buonos, the and others enjoying easy money.

No matter how interesting or seemingly factual the article seems it is tinged with bitterness that we all feel when duped, mislead and forced to swallow cod liver oil! The point I made last December 2015 was to fire out right the ops department from GM Barker to Head Coach Milanovich. Michael Clements had to be kept in line and not tap dancing all over the place as he did game one at BMO. Considering the great money put out for talent in the past as put on display to fans game one they certainly taunted fans new ownership and played the dumbest inept game possible before the closest to a sellout for some time to come. Time to call a spade a spade we have seen the "Black Sox" scandal, point shaving in NCAA basketball as well as gambling exploits of the Packers Hornung and Reds Rose, now it is the CFL's Argos and certainly it's low caliber ops. people who must be part of the NFL scheme elsewise the solution would be in place, as it was in Montreal leading up to the opening of the big O. Now the NFL nice guy not is in the open and the public continue to open their purses not, for stadiums and tickets, we see how critical it is to know how our players react to adversity, the Argos do not, in fact the NFL is a perfect excuse for lack of attitude and exerted play. The real hard working excellent franchises in this league have plans can reach their goals but they too have to rely on the teams to be in prime competition. Only the best will stay otherwise they leave. The Esks are the litmus test here as they sport the lowest attendance per capacity in the CFL. How at 40k it seemed an obvious factor slipped in and it was NFL operatives, challenge me folks, suddenly attendance slipped to 30k now is still about that. Argos fire all and regroup but for god's sake fire. Reach the plateau set by marketing and make fans proud. The Jays played on grooved home runs and naïve fans, the Raptors in mixed bag winning ball. To keep up review the Levy Trestman plans because the Quebecois rumoured to be on board will steal something they don't understand. Include Buono in that list as BC has no doubt a deal with Bon Jovi to guess what in the house that Bob Ackles built.

Maybe mis-pricing Grey Cup tickets was part of an overall strategy to heighten discontent about the Argos and the CFL in Toronto?

Maybe giving away thousands of free tickets that were scarcely used is part of a broader strategy to tick off Argos season ticket holders who paid good money in good faith and hasten their abandonment of the team?

Maybe making it virtually impossible for the Argos to play weekend games - because soccer gets scheduling priority - is another mechanism to lessen the appeal of the CFL in Toronto?

And to what end? To deliberately lose many millions of dollars? There's more to this than meets the eye.

Larry Tanenbaum and his group that bid for Buffalo did the league a big favour by forcing Terry Pegula to jack up his bid to $1.4 billion, thus boosting the overall value of each NFL franchise fractionally. Had that team sold for it's estimated value of less than $900,000, it would have been seen as a negative development that lowered franchise values. Something to consider when several NFL teams might soon change hands.

If Tanenbaum's strategy is to play ball with the NFL and earn the good will of the owners, he's going about it the right way.

And the first season of Argos football at BMO Field suggests there won't be many more if the team loses money like they did this season. It's been a black eye for the league watching games from their on TSN. That's not an image you can show to sponsors and benefit from.

No one is dreaming here. It's just business. The CFL needs to think carefully about what might be best in the long run for business.

Let the Argos flounder in front of embarrassingly low crowds and continue to damage the league's image.

Or take a bold step to make the game of football relevant again in Toronto and work to find every possible benefit from that.

If the Bills series showed anything, it's that a cultured, savvy audience exists for football in Toronto. It showed that the NFL simply can't put another franchise's second-rate product into Toronto on a part-time basis and expect people to flock like lemmings to watch it.

That whole Bills fiasco was never going to work given how poor the Bills teams were and how meaningless the games were.

An NFL franchise in Toronto would sell out every game in a heartbeat and command massive corporate support for suite sales and advertising.

Canadian football is fading rapidly from relevancy in Toronto. High schools are cutting it from their athletic programs and replacing it with other sports. Toronto's university teams have not been competitive for decades and play in front of tiny crowds.

If football can become relevant in Toronto again, it can work to the CFL's benefit through financial subsidies and deeper affiliation.

The NFL is going to set up shop full time very soon in London, England. More international franchises are very much in play for them. Toronto would be the easiest to facilitate.
