Chris Wiliams underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee Friday.
The injury occurred while the five-foot-nine, 155-pounder was leaping to try and catch a pass against Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Justin Cox on October 7. Williams tweeted out a picture from his hospital bed in Ottawa after the procedure was completed.

The 29-year-old pass catcher had 77 receptions for 1,246 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games prior to suffering the season-ending setback. That made it three straight 1,200-yard CFL seasons for the diminutive playmaker.
Williams should get full clearance in approximately six months and be ready for 2017 training camp. The New Mexico State product signed a one-year deal with the Redblacks for 2016, which means he’ll be a free agent in February unless Ottawa re-signs him beforehand.
