Bombers Johnson tests positive for recreational drug “Sally”

Winnipeg Blue Bomber defensive back Bruce Johnson has been suspended for two games after testing positive for the recreational drug methylenedioxyamphetamine, otherwise known as MDA or “Sally.”

It is similar to the MDMA or ecstasy but with a enhanced psychedelic element. It would appear to have no performance-enhancing characteristics (on the football field, anyway.)

Johnson, who has started 11 games this season and 45 over his three year CFL career, issued a statement through the team.

“I take full responsibility for my decisions and accept the disciplinary action. I apologize to my coaches, teammates, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers organization and Bomber fans, and will use this as a learning opportunity for myself. I hope to return following my suspension and help our team continue the push toward the playoffs.”

Johnson is the second player suspended under the league’s revamped substance abuse policy announced last April.
