Lawrence, Reinebold recruit former Ticat Sinkfield via Twitter

A Hamilton Tiger-Cats player and coach are trying to convince a former teammate to rejoin the club.

That got the fans going, and a number of them chimed in to encourage Sinkfield to return.

Sinkfield bounced around several NFL teams before trying his luck in the CFL, signing with the Argonauts in March, 2014. Released by the team that August, he was promptly scooped up by the Ticats. He played in seven games, registering one punt return touchdown while making 17 catches for 210 yards and a score.

Unquestionably talented, the knock on Sinkfield was his inconsistency. But he put it all together in 2015, making 15 starts and posting career highs in receptions (69), receiving yards (1,030), receiving touchdowns (6), rushing yards (132) and all purpose yards (1,399).

A free agent after the season, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings in January but was released Aug. 30. He is currently available to any NFL or CFL team but he does make some sense for the Ticats. His familiarity with the offence would be a huge benefit at this stage of the season and he would provide high calibre insurance for the team’s receivers and return man Brandon Banks. He could also push for a starting spot… and no other team seems to be offering couches and home cooked meals.
