Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Ticats QB Zach Collaros returns to practice

Zach is on his way back.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have taken quarterback Zach Collaros off the six-game injured list meaning the 27-year-old can begin practicing with the the club. He was on the field for Monday’s session at Tim Hortons Field.

It’s the next step in Collaros’ rehabilitation from a torn ACL in his knee, suffered in Sept. 19, 2015 against the Edmonton Eskimos. Despite the injury, he set career highs in passing yards (3,376) yards and touchdowns (25) while completing over 70 per cent of his passes in 12 starts last season.

Collaros also recently signed a new three-year contract that will keep in Hamilton through the 2018 season.

Despite his return to practice, it’s unlikely that Collaros will play this Friday against the Montreal Alouettes. Jeremiah Masoli, who has started all three games this season, took the first team reps at practice on Monday. Masoli is third in the CFL with 933 passing yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also fumbled four times, losing three.
