Start time for CFL season opener moved back

The CFL has moved the start time for Thursday’s season opening game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate opening ceremonies at BMO Field.

Neither the league or team has announced the move publicly – they likely want fans in their seats by the listed start time – but multiple sources confirmed the change.

The Argonauts are moving into the newly-renovated BMO Field after 27 years at the Rogers Centre and are celebrating with pre-game ceremonies that include a performance by a 350-piece ceremonial marching band, a flyover from the Royal Canadian Airforce and the national anthem performed by Jacob Hoggard, the lead singer of the band Hedley. Argo greats Damon Allen, Pinball Clemons, Rocket Ismail and Joe Theismann will participate in the ceremonial coin toss.
