Bombers sign DB Travis Hawkins

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms with free agent defensive back Travis Hawkins.

Hawkins, 25, spent the 2015 season with the Toronto Argonauts, recording 37 tackles and two interceptions in fourteen starts at weak-side halfback. A product of the University of Delaware, Hawkins was in training camp with the New England Patriots in 2014 before coming north.

Hawkins’ signing comes just one week after the Bombers declared their 46-man roster for the 2016 season. Third-year man Julian Posey and rookie Kevin Fogg were the primary competitors to earn Demond Washington’s vacated weak-side halfback position, with Posey earning the start in Friday’s regular season opener versus Montreal.
