What a great story. I’m afraid to say that I knew very little of Brian Timmis until the last few years.

Good luck to Mercer in bringing the surname back to the field. Despite the legacy, the Ticats obviously saw enough in his potential to make that pick.

PS: If he makes the team, expect Rod Black to spin this tale during one of his between-play tangents that often extends into the next play. And expect Suitor to keep calling him “Timmins”

Like @mikefrmthhammer I have been a Ticat fan for 60 years… may not be old enough to have seen Brian the 1st play but certainly aware of his legacy…

Growing up close to Civic/Ivor Wynne Stadium… I will always remember playing ball in Brian Timmis Field…

Good luck young man… I certainly hope you make the team and build a legacy of your own…

Getting your name on a Grey Cup in 2016 would be the best story of the year…

Welcome home Mercer. Although way too young to remember your great-grandfather, being a Ticat fan for all of my 60 years his name will always be spoken reverently by myself.

The hard part was getting drafted. Everything else will be much easier for you. Just do what you do, to the best of your ability and you may earn the nickname “The Young Man of the Mountain” yet.

I am excited for you and excited to watch you play. Best of luck and eat ’em raw!
