Belly aching is their process of dealing with legal and correct procedure.

I think there’s a big difference between being a fan, and an owner that knows the back-room workings and politics of the CFL. Being the former doesn’t automatically equate to becoming the latter so quickly.

As I said, I could buy into the theory. That might be a poor purchase or not… we’ll likely never know.

@GC: hunt has been involved for years with the ottawa 67s OHL hockey team so doubt he would do what some suggest as he knows better then to stick his nose into desjardins business. the other 4 owners provided the money to acquire the franchise and would have no desire to be anything but SILENT PARTNERS in the CFL team!!

It is a basic premise that Non-football operations people should leave the football operations decisions to the GM and if they want a change in CFL should, as a Governor, make an effort to go through the proper process such as pitching their idea for a coach movement policy to the rules committee.

Owners like Hunt and back in the day Bernie Glieberman and Harold Ballard who want to become the de facto GM in the public eye, result in the CFL looking to what their thoughts are on any topic and thus Desjardins gets shut out of the conversation more and more going forward.

Odd that Hunt as a former Rider season ticket holder and attender to at least eight GC games would be “new” to the CFL.
He was also was involved in bidding as early as 2006.

I suspect the other partners but haven’t dug out their backgrounds.

I have no idea if one of the five owners wants to shakeup the status quo.

In what way is being upset at losing a signed coach because of what appears to be an informal agreement “interfering” or making the GM a “lame duck”?

That seems more of a business concern than a lot of other owner moves.

IAC, from what I have seen of Hunt’s operations, what I have read about how he carries himself and a long history with the CFL, I suspect it is other owners. As I recall, he was supposed to only have a small percentage of the ownership compared to his partners.

He is more likely to have asked what usually goes on and abiding by it, IMO.

I have not seen any indication of where the idea came from.

+1 … which is why one wonders at the length of time taken for a decision that IMO was rather cut & dried.

Then too, where the commissioner’s office is supposed to be confirming the current setup, one would have expected the CFL offices to be making the press release instead of one of the clubs involved.
