It seems a smart move on his part.

He is a former NCAA coach who used to pull in $1.8 million a year, before bonus. I seem to recall that he used to be the highest paid state employee.

With NCAA schools asking to talk to him, he was in the driver’s seat compared to most other coaches.

In reply to Aaron. I don't know ... that's two HC in a row then Buono versus what I seem to recall as more often being HC then Popp then HC.

Interesting or strange that Tedford had an opt out after only one year. Not much of a commitment.

A rental??? Or Tedford wanted to try this out without risk???

I have to wonder if Wally really doesn’t want to give up coaching permanently. And whether Tedford realized this as the season went on.

Who knows what was happening behind the scenes… Tedford didn’t get the best results, but he was hampered by some key injuries, and a team that’s in a rebuilding phase. And it seems he’s got some soft landings available.
