As for Gable not getting the ball because he wasted in pass protection…You don’t need to pass block when it’s a running play. More runs would have slowed down the pass rush. and screens would have helped protect against the blitz.

His ONE redeeming factor is his ability to run the football, tempered with the number of fumbles he had when he was hit. Glenn is a non-issue, please don’t bring it up again, Mr. Milton. The choice of starter may have already been taken out of Austin’s control if Mathews has failed the concussion protocols, and as evidenced by the signing of Mitchell Gale today.

As for not giving the ball to Gable – I seriously think that he was being used as a 6th Offensive Lineman throughout the game, since we saw how porous the pass protection was. If there was ever a time to have a bona-fide Tight End…

Hamilton needs a develop a quarterback behind collaros who can not only throw the ball but pull it down and get out of trouble by running. Mathews is a sitting duck in the pocket you can’t hold the ball for 8 seconds standing still and expect not to get sacked. Austins college boy is not the answer right now . But I’m not sure if Harris or masoli is either although I’d like to see either Harris or masoli get into a package for Saturdays game

That being said, I think that even if Mathews remains the starter, bringing in some extra help with either Harris or Masoli, both of whom to my knowledge are more mobile, could be a good idea to change things up and keep the defense a bit off-balance. After all Austin was willing to use LeFevour in tandem with the vet Burris to run the offense a couple of years ago, so why not help out his young struggling pivot in the same way? The one thing that I would prefer NOT to see is Masoli as the starter (didn’t sound like it was a consideration) as even in preseason he still looked like his decision making left much to be desired.

But sometimes a career is ruined when fed to the wolves too early. Even, if at this point he brought us to Winnepeg, what kind of game would he have?
I would rather try to choose now and have 2 weeks to prepare after Saturday’s game, than to have to switch to an un-proven with one week heading into a playoff game!

Ottawa is an outdoor stadium so where one feels the wind is an issue, it might tip one towards a change.

As for Harris not turning the ball over but not playing … this overlooks the horrible fumble late in the Edm game on the hand off. There are no INTs but as stated, not many passes.

Personally, I’d prepare as many QBs as possible.

BTW … is Masoli still hurt?
Where experience in the system is supposed to be tremendously important, Masoli has been around a while.

We will also never know if we had enough salary cap room to bring in Glenn if they had wanted to.
