Hamilton native Daryl Waud has been signed by the Washington Redskins of the NFL.
Waud, a 6-foot-5, 270 pound defensive tackle, participated in a three-day mini-camp over the weekend and was subsequently signed to a contract. It’s expected he’ll attend the team’s training camp in July.
The 21-year-old played his high school football at Sir Allan MacNabb before staring at the University of Western Ontario where he was a three-time OUA all-star and two-time CIS all-Canadian selection. Waud was drafted in the second round, 12th overall, by the Toronto Argonauts in last week’s CFL Draft.
